| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com essential video John Hughes's popular 1985 teen drama finds a diverse group of high school students--a jock (Emilio Estevez), a metalhead (Judd Nelson), a weirdo (Ally Sheedy), a princess (Molly Ringwald), and a nerd (Anthony Michael Hall)--sharing a Saturday in detention at their high school for one minor infraction or another. Over the course of a day, they talk through the social barriers that ordinarily keep them apart, and new alliances are born, though not without a lot of pain first. Hughes (ISixteen Candles/I), who wrote and directed, is heavy on dialogue but he also thoughtfully refreshes the look of the film every few minutes with different settings and original viewpoints on action. The movie deals with such fundamentals as the human tendency toward bias and hurting the weak, and because the characters are caught somewhere between childhood and adulthood, it's easy to get emotionally involved in hope for their redemption. Preteen and teenage kids love this film, incidentally. The DVD release includes production notes, cast and crew bios, widescreen presentation, Dolby sound, closed captioning, optional French and Spanish soundtracks, and optional Spanish subtitles. When Saturday detention started, they were simply the Jock, the Princess, the Brain, the Criminal and the Basket Case, but by that afternoon they had become closer than any of them could have imagined. Featuring an all-star '80s cast including Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy, this warm-hearted coming-of-age comedy from writer/director John Hughes (Sixteen Candles, Weird Science) helped define an entire generation!

2.5 stars out of 4 December 18, 2008 The Bottom Line:br /br /An inexplicably beloved film, the Breakfast club features a cast of 20-somethings plodding their way through Saturday detention, grappling with their tortured adolescence and cliched evil teacher while they make small strides towards becoming decent human beings instead of one-note stereotypes.
DVD Purchase December 16, 2008 Everything was fine, the item came as promised. It is a Christmas gift so hopefully everything will be fine.

A classic October 12, 2008 A classic in every since of the word. The movie it'self is great and I have introduced this film to my nieces and nephews who love it too. It's timless and just a good film.
Nice Movie for a Saturday Afternoon October 9, 2008 Another great John Hughes film, up there with Ferris Bueller and the first two Home Alones. br /br /This film is high school to a T. The memories, personalities, the faculty. Some people call that stupid, and that may be true. For me, this movie encompassed high school all around, and it is nice to spend a Saturday Afternoon watching the film. br / br /The extras are nice, but I got the film for the film. I was looking to buy back a few months back and they discontinued the other releases until this one came out.
